For your business

Lightning protection for your business.

A strike that takes out your panel can close your doors for days — spoiled inventory, dead registers, a grain dryer that won't run at harvest. SCI protects shops, offices, ag facilities, and grain handling across South Texas so a storm doesn't become downtime.

For your business

Downtime is the real cost.

For a business, the strike itself is rarely the worst part — it's what stops afterward. A blown service or a surge through the panel can take out point-of-sale, refrigeration, controls, and computers in one shot, and you don't get those hours back. A bonded protection system plus coordinated surge protection keeps a strike from turning into a shutdown.

  • Perimeter air terminals around the roofline
  • Roof conductor loop tying all terminals together
  • Multiple down conductors to a grounding ring
  • Surge protection at the main service & subpanels
  • Protection for refrigeration, POS & controls
  • Documentation for insurance & code compliance

What SCI installs

Engineered for the whole footprint.

Commercial roofs are bigger and flatter, with HVAC units, parapets, and equipment that all need to be inside the protected zone. We ring the roof with terminals, tie them into a conductor loop, run multiple down paths, and coordinate surge protection across the panels so every circuit is covered.

  • Air terminals spaced to standard across the roof
  • Bonded roof conductor loop & multiple downs
  • Grounding ring sized to the building
  • Surge protection at service entrance & key subpanels
  • Bonding of rooftop HVAC & metal equipment
  • Work scheduled around your business hours
Who this is for

The businesses that can't afford a dark week.

If your operation runs on power and stops without it, a strike is a business risk, not just a building risk. These are the ones we protect most.

Shops & retail

Registers, security, lighting, and refrigeration all ride on the same panel a surge would hit. Keep the doors open after the storm.

Ag facilities & grain dryers

A dryer that won't run during harvest costs real money by the hour. Protection keeps the controls and motors alive.

Offices & clinics

Servers, networks, and records don't take a direct hit well. Surge protection plus a bonded system keeps data and equipment safe.

Warehouses & metal buildings

Big metal structures on open ground are prime targets — we bond the steel and ground it properly so it protects instead of conducts into the wrong places.

Questions

What people ask us.

How disruptive is the install to my business?

We plan around you. Most of the work happens on the roof and the exterior, so we can usually keep you open during the day and schedule any indoor or panel work for off-hours. We'll lay out the plan and timeline before we start.

We have a lot of rooftop equipment. Does that complicate things?

It's normal, and it's exactly why a system matters — HVAC units and metal equipment on the roof are potential strike points and need to be bonded into the system. We design the terminal layout and conductor loop to bring all of it inside the protected zone.

Can you protect just our electronics with surge protection?

Yes — if a direct strike to the structure isn't your main concern, panel-level and subpanel surge protection is a strong, cost-effective layer on its own, and we install it as a standalone job. For full coverage we'd pair it with terminals and grounding, and we'll tell you honestly which makes sense for your building.

Will this help with code or insurance requirements?

Often yes. Some commercial and ag insurers and certain occupancies look for documented lightning protection. We build to NFPA 780 / UL 96A and give you the documentation to hand your carrier or inspector.

Do you cover multiple buildings on one property?

We do — ag operations and commercial campuses often have several structures. We can protect them individually and tie them to a common grounding scheme. One quote covers the whole site.
